WHAT IS LIGHTER?

A platform for crypto and derivatives trading

Lighter is a decentralized exchange built on an Ethereum-based zero-knowledge rollup. It offers an order book, market and limit orders, and risk controls. Lighter says its matching and liquidations can be verified cryptographically.

Equity and commodity markets provide price exposure through contracts. A position does not give you ownership of the underlying stock. Lighter says these markets trade around the clock, but prices may move sharply when the underlying market opens.

What I like about the trading experience

This is my personal view: I like the trading experience. The mix of markets and a clear order book makes Lighter useful to me. That says nothing about another trader's results.

Zero Standard trading fees

Standard currently has 0% maker and taker fees. Funding, spread, slippage and possible network costs still matter.

Verifiable design

Lighter describes matching and liquidation proofs verified on Ethereum. This does not remove market or technology risk.

FEES AND REFERRALS

What does the referral provide?

Lighter's program offers eligible new users who join through a referral the option to activate one week of Premium. Fees paid during that trial may be rebated under the program rules, on the first $10 million of combined maker and taker volume. Rebates are discretionary and the minimum payout is $1.

Standard already has 0% maker and taker trading fees. Premium is optional and normally carries fees; with no LIT staked, the published rates are 0.0040% maker and 0.0280% taker. The trial matters only if you choose Premium and pay eligible fees.

As the referrer, I may receive 10% of referred users' gross fees at the base tier. Lighter can change or end the program. A referral is no reason to trade more than you otherwise would.

Open my Lighter invitation below. Check that code 730892H3 appears before completing account creation.
Connect a wallet and follow Lighter's account steps. Confirm that the service is available where you live.
Choose an account type. Standard currently has no maker or taker trading fees. Activate the Premium trial only if you want it and understand its terms.
Check the market, order type, margin, funding and possible liquidation price before placing a trade.

Lighter says referral codes cannot be added after sign-up. If the invitation does not show the right code, pause and verify it in the app before creating an account.

Perpetual contracts can use leverage. Even a small market move can then cause a large loss or forced liquidation. Periodic funding payments can help or hurt you. Market orders can fill at a worse price than expected.
